Minutes of the BTTL Committee meeting held at 8 pm on Friday 4th April 2008 at Meadow Hill Tennis Club

Present: Messrs. Bertrand, Brandwood, Berry, Caswell, Gooddy (Chair), Hodgert, Holt, Wheeldon & Mrs Scowcroft

Apologies for absence: Messrs. Scowcroft & Wash

Minutes of the last meeting: These had been circulated and were agreed.

Matters Arising: As regards the T-shirt issue, P Brandwood's contact had not replied. R Bertrand will pursue the matter.

Correspondence: A letter had been circulate from a player complaining about conditions of play at two other clubs and making suggestions re special playing conditions for the Premier league. We had also had responses from the clubs concerned. The Committee felt that the clubs were doing their best to deal with the situation. Any major measures such as banning clubs with certain types of floor surface or creating special conditions for the Premier league would in any case have to go through an AGM. The writer of the original letter would be invited to put any proposals in writing for the AGM should he wish to do so.

General Secretary's Report: None

Match Secretary's Report: Outstanding matches were as follows: Prem - 4; Div 1 - 5; Div 2 - 1; Div 3 - 6; Div 4 - 6. Easter Monday has caused problems with fixtures. There will be one week allowed fro completion. Division 4 still have a weeks fixtures to play.

Treasurer's Report: All the advert cheques have been received. The treasurer said that he was rather concerned about the Lancashire & Cheshire costs which were increasing.

Inter-league Secretary's Report: As the post of Inter-league Secretary was at present vacant, the Match Secretary related the results found on the Internet. He remarked that 2 men's, 1 ladies, 3 Juniors and 3 Vets teams were a rather large number of teams. We need an Inter-league Secretary who could co-ordinate it properly and enter teams through the Committee as per the rules.

Tournament Secretary's Report: Some entries had come in. No problems were anticipated. He would liase with Mrs J Smart.

Date and venue of next meeting: Friday 2nd May at Hilton

AOB: It was decided that the special prizes should be awarded as follows: Rupert de Riggs - B Dudley; Ralph Palmer - Callan Tolladay; Albert Howcroft - Stuart McCaig. It was suggested that we write to Cliff Booth and request that he present the trophies.
