Apologies for absence: Messrs. Berry & Mrs Scowcroft
Minutes of the last meeting: These had been circulated and were agreed.
Matters Arising: None
Correspondence: A letter had been received from Alan Hodgert. “After my recent pathetic performance at the finals when I completely lost my concentration and also the adverse comments from a very small minority of the spectators which I found most embarrassing, I have decided to end my interest in TT completely and have decided to tender my resignation from the Committee. Regards to the Committee, it has been most pleasant working with them.” It was decided we should send him a letter of thanks.
We have received notification of the Lancashire & Cheshire AGM later in the month. Mr Holt said he would represent us.
Tournament Secretary's Report: The Closed Championships was a successful tournament especially as 7 of the 8 events showed and increase in numbers. Both Singles events and the Level Doubles were up by 6 on last season. It was good to see new faces in the Junior Singles, which had 11 entries. Apart from the Fields brothers, Beth Farnworth (Withins) and Krishna Chauhan (Hilton L) impressed. Krishna with Kirit Chauhan (+6) in the Handicapped Doubles beat Ciccelli and Reynolds after being 2 games down, only to lose to Hallows and Young in the semi-final 11-8 in the 5th game. As a matter of interest, in the senior events entries came from Premier - 8, Div. 1 - 7, Div. 2 - 10, Div. 3 - 4, and Div. 4 - 5. My thanks to Margaret and John Scowcroft for their help on the Saturday.
Rule Changes: These were discussed in detail and formed the main item of the evening. The Committees contributions have been added to the proposals under 'Background'.
Date and venue of the AGM: Thursday 11th June at the Hilton Centre
AOB: Under our rules the present Chairman would be deemed to have resigned. There are vacancies for Chairman, Vice-chairman, Inter-league Secretary and three Committee members. The Committee reiterated its policy, that after this year's fiasco, we will not enter and pay for any teams from Bolton without an Inter-league Secretary.
